Farewell Soriano Family!

This was a last minute plan, but I jumped at the opportunity to photograph Erma's beautiful family. Erma was the evening nurse supervisor on my floor at Regions and she is leaving us, packing up and moving cross country! She realized last minute that she wanted some family photos before she went. So, 5 days before the big move, I stopped by their place (amidst the moving chaos) to get some photos for them.
Here are a few of my favorites...As you can see, Erma and her husband and their twins are GORGEOUS!

We will all miss you so much Erma! Good luck to you and your family on your big move. We all wish you the best!!!

It's bittersweet when moments like this arrive. I've been photographing little Brendan since he was only 10 days old. Now, here he is at a year old. It's been so amazing to watch him grow and to be a part of the first year of his life, even if only to photograph those milestone months.
He is already such a great little boy and I know he will continue to make his mom and dad proud.

I had a lot of fun doing Nic's senior portraits. Nic is the little brother of my dear friend Laura. It was great to chat with him about all the things that he's looking forward to after high school.
We headed down to the Mill City ruins area and the Stone Arch Bridge. It was great to explore some areas that I haven't shot before and I can't wait to get down there again.

I met up with an old friend of mine today. I had been longing to meet her new little girl, Ava and Jenna wanted some photos so it worked out perfectly.
This little girl is quite the doll! She cooperated so well and is such a sweetie. I had a blast photographing her and I had such a great time catching up with Jenna.

This little guy is one of my favorite boys to photograph! He's SUCH a boy, he loves to climb, play and explore. If I ask him to go check something out or go sit on something...he never has a problem doing it! Plus, he loves to ham it up for me. We had a ton of fun today down at Long Lake Regional Park and here are just a few of my favorite photos from today.

What a beautiful day we had in Minnesota. It worked out so beautifully that we were able to do Alyssa's photos today. The weather cooperated so well and Alyssa was the perfect client! Despite what she says, she's great in front of the camera. It was really hard to choose which photos to post on the blog because there were so many amazingly beautiful photos of her. But, I managed to narrow it down.

It's fun to watch children grow, but when they are the children of your closest friends...it makes it that much more amazing. This amazing little guy, Riley, is the son of my dear friend Ashley. He is such a joy to be around and he is definitely quite the "stud muffin"!

I did photos of this little guy back in November when he was just 10 days old! I was pleased to get to get some photos of him again now that he is 3 months old and it was such a joy to see how much he has changed and grown. He really has developed quite an expressive personality. He pulled out quite a few faces and expressions while I was there and he kept me and his mom laughing quite a bit.

Little Riley ~ 6 days old

Some of you may remember the winter maternity shoot I did recently with my dear friend Ashley, well her little one recently entered the world. Riley wasn't due until January 8th, but decided he couldn't wait to greet the world and joined us on December 28th.

I'm already head over heels in love with him, which I'm sure that everyone who has met him feels the same way.
Today I went over to get some newborn photos of this little guy and he was a dream. He slept most of the shoot and really only fussed for a little while during outfit changes.

Ashley and I have been friends for more than half our lives. We met and became friends when we were 12...and the rest was out of our control! We have been there together through some of the most incredible highs and lows in our lives and it's such a blessing to be able to do this for her at this amazing time in her life.

I can't wait to see what comes next for her when her little one is born next month. I know that she will turn out to be a wonderfully loving mother and I can't wait to get photos of what I'm sure will be a gorgeous and stunning child. Ashley has decided not to find out what she's having and I'm definitely say boy!

Kaleb is ONE!

I've been taking photos of this little guy since he was still in his mom's belly! We've done maternity, 1 months, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and now one year!!

This family has always meant so much to me and it was so much fun taking Kaleb's one year photos today. It's so amazing to think how much he has grown over this last year and it has been so much fun to watch. I can't wait to see the kind of man he grows up to be! He's well on his way to being an amazing kid.

Kristin and I have been friends since junior high and have only become closer over the years. She asked me if I would get some photos of her and her boyfriend...and their dog Daise. She wanted some photos for Christmas cards, but also since she has hardly any photos of her and Jeremy!

Almost 2 months ago, I did some maternity photos for a friend of mine from nursing school. You can see those here. They had decided not to find out the sex of their baby. Well, their little one is here and they had a little baby boy who they named Elijah. He was about a week overdue (or "overcooked" as Alicia says). He was 9lbs 13oz and 21 1/2 inches long.
I got to meet him a couple days ago when I went to take some photos of him. He is adorable and I just wanted to snuggle him! Here are some of my favorites from that session.

I've heard endless good things about this little girl from her grandma (who is a co-worker of mnie). Alicia is another one of my dear friends from nursing school. All of my nursing school friends are so dear to me because of all that we went through together! When Alicia contacted me to do her maternity photos, I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to do this for her! She makes pregnancy look beautiful! She was glowing and you could tell that her and her husband Brad are more than excited to welcome their first child soon.
They do not know what the gender is, but I say boy! We'll see if I'm right!

Congratulations you two! I'm so happy for you and I can't wait to meet your little one once he or she arrives!

This kid means so much to me. He's been in my heart since before he was even born. He's the first born of my dear friends Crystal and Jason and I was his primary babysitter for about the first year of his life! He's such an amazing kid and I love watching him grow!

This was an emotional day for me...May 22nd, 2010. My amazingly dear friend Liz finally got her happy ever after when she married the love of her life! Liz asked me to be personal attendant and I was beyond happy to be a part of her big day, and of course...my camera came along for the ride!
The emotion and love was tangible from the time we all started getting ready. We could all feel it and knew that the day was going to be nothing short of amazing. From hair and make-up, to Liz getting into her dress and then seeing her dad for the first time. From an emotional and touching ceremony to the grandest reception...The day was perfect.
It was hard to narrow down some favorites to post on the blog, but here are some photos that I think sum up the day pretty well.

Twins Game ~ 4/22/10

The photos from this game are actually from the second game I went to at the brand new and gorgeous Target Field. The first game we went to was rainy and I didn't want to drag my camera down there...so I just enjoyed that game.
This game was with my husband, mom and sister and the weather was beautiful! This stadium is phenomenal! The view, the food, the atmosphere, the everything!

Franconia Sculpture Park & Taylors Falls

This is a catch-up blog! These pictures were taken back in April and I'm just getting to them now. Russ and I took a day trip to the Franconia Sculpture Park and then went further north up to Taylors Falls. I had just heard about this sculpture park and was very excited to check it out. It definitely did NOT disappoint and I can't wait to get back there again another day, since the sculptures do rotate as new artists are brought in.
Taylors Falls is always beautiful and has been a favorite relaxation spot for me. It's so peaceful and invigorating at the same time!

Remember this post?! Well, Lulu's big sister just celebrated her 7th birthday. Her mom, Sarah, chose to have her birthday party at a great park. There was a big playground for the kids to play with and a covered picnic area for us adults to hang out at.

Lulu has a birthday!

The beautiful daughter of a dear friend of mine had her birthday party today! She was the star of the day and she knew it as she proudly proclaimed several times "I'm the birthday girl!" to the other children. Little Olivia is a little spitfire and I LOVE her for it. I ♥ Faces ~ "Bundled Up"

This weeks theme for the I Heart Faces challenge is "Bundled Up". I recently took several pictures of my neighborhood kids out playing in the snow. I knew I'd have to use one of the shots I got that day...but which one?! It was such a hard decision, but here's the one I ended up choosing.
This is one of the youngest ones in the neighborhood. Her and her sisters were having the time of their lives, sledding, diving and digging in the huge snow pile outside of our houses. It completely reminded me of when I was a kid and I would dig out forts from the huge piles left behind by the snow piles.
It was such a joy to photograph these girls.

Here is the amazingly super cute Kaleb again! I've really enjoyed doing his photos every month, it's a great way to watch him grow and I know his parents appreciate it!
This time I got to play with some new equipment I purchased. I got amazing new lens for my Canon. It's the 50mm f/1.4 prime lens and it is superb!

Another fun entry to the I Heart Faces weekly challenge. This week is all about those funny moments that you unintentionally captured!
Luckily, we can enter up to 5 pictures this week. Here are 4 of my favorites.

This first one is of my best friend and her little girl. They were goofing around and I managed to get this great shot. It's like she's trying to say, "cut it out mom"...but laughing at the same time!

This next one includes the same little girl, but also has both her big and little brothers. Their mom and I wanted a shot of them both kissing their little brother's head. Well, she's in the phase where her kisses are open mouthed...but it just looks like she's trying to chew on her baby brother!!!

This next one isn't the greatest shot, but it tells a lot. It's not in focus, but that's a big part of why the shot is so much fun. These two boys live next door to me and I did a shoot with them this past fall. Their parents wanted a shot of the boys with their dog Abby...well Abby is a puggle and doe NOT sit still. Here she is evading the photo and nearly running me over in the process!

I was sitting on my couch and was hit (almost literally) in the face with the sunshine that blessed us today! I knew I had to get outside and play with my camera. The sun was GORGEOUS today. And, to add to my fun, the neighbor kids were out playing with their sleds!

This was taken on February 6th, 2010 at the wedding of a friend of mine. This was during their first dance as husband and wife and the way he held her was so beautiful...as you can see in this photo.

Valentine's Day surprise!

My husband happens to be one of the most selfless and thoughtful guys! I was in the middle of a really tough stretch at work and it happened to be Valentine's day and I was again...stuck at work. Part way through the day, my charge nurse called me to the front desk because there was something she wanted to "discuss" with me. I get to the front and there was a volunteer with a box of flowers for me. I opened them to find a GORGEOUS bouquet of 2 dozen "passion" roses. Not your typical red roses, they were peach, pink, yellow and white and absolutely stunning.

The next day, the really opened up and I took advantage to get some shots of them. Here are the beautiful flowers that my husband got me...not because he wanted to get me flowers...but because he knew that sending me flowers at work would be something I'd love. He liked knowing that I'd get attention from my co-workers for it! Tee-hee...he's so cute!

Dayna and I went to nursing school together, so it's safe to say we've been through a lot together! Her and her husband, Jeremy, were married last April and have already welcomed a new member to their family. Little Jayson was born on January 28th and he is absolutely delightful.

I recently spent some time taking some portrait shots of my mom and sister. My mom typically doesn't like being in front of the camera, but I hope to bring her out of her shell a little. She's a beautiful woman and I think I captured some of that.
My sister is, of course, gorgeous as well. She's much more natural/comfortable in front of the camera and we really had some fun.

My dear friend Ashley approached me about a shoot she had in mind. She wanted to recreate a recent photo shoot of one of her favorite actors, Chaske Spencer (portrays Sam in New Moon). She's actually recently even created a website for him (Click here for her website). I was definitely intrigued and inspired by this idea and we went ahead with attempting to do a literal imitation of his shoot. We also did some beauty shots for her, because well...she's beautiful!

I had the pleasure of doing a kids/family shoot for a co-worker of mine. We went to Long Lake Park, where I got some great shots of her daughter Tiffany and her son Tavion. Such beautiful children of hers!! I had a great time and was so happy that the sun was out to play this day!

Baby Lucy ~ 2 Months Old

I had the joy of getting together with an old friend of mine today! She and I went to nursing school together, so obviously we went through some tough times with each other. She is such a joy and I was so glad to re-connect with her. She recently had a little girl, who she and her husband named Lucy. I had the pleasure of taking some pictures of little Lucy and here are some of my favorites!!

She's even darn cute when she's crying!!! I knew she was done with me at this point.

Duluth, October 2009 ~ Part two

A few weeks ago I posted a few pictures of our trip to Duluth. Well, I also promised that there would be more pictures posted. So...here they are, and amongst these are some of my favorites!

I call this the "Castle House". I was so infatuated with it that we sat outside it for a little while. If the owners were home, they probably thought I was crazy...unless they are used to that sort of thing!

I can't wait until Russ and I can get back up there. It has become our home away from home...our sanctuary...our piece of sanity.

My husband and I have been truly blessed by the neighbors we have. We are surrounded by many amazing and wonderful families! One of those families is Tony & Rhonda and their kids Mason and Brandon! We moved in next to this family before Brandon was even born...so we've had the pleasure of watching these two boys grow up!
Rhonda asked me if I could do a shoot with the kids and I was MORE than happy to do so! We spent some time in the park/playground right near our homes and I had a blast. Here are some of my favorites.

Crystal ~ Maternity Shoot

Crystal is a dear friend of mine. We've been friends for just over 10 years now and have been through a lot together. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and I've been head over heels in love with her children. Well, now her and her husband are welcoming their 3rd child into the world soon. She's due December 10th to have another little boy, Kaleb. This will add to her family which also consists of 5 year old Jordan and 3 year old Evelyn.
